Rouxlene Badenhorst

Meet Rouxlene, a dedicated professional with a unique blend of expertise in clinical social work and integrative health with training in naturopathy, nutrition and integrative functional medicine towards an integrated and holistic approach to well-being.

Expanding her horizons, Rouxlene has delved into the realm of trauma counseling, incorporating the latest techniques such as Trauma Tension Releasing Exercise (TRE), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye movement Integration (EMI) and mindfulness. This integrative approach reflects her commitment to addressing trauma and wellbeing on multiple levels, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul.

In addition to trauma counseling, Rouxlene offers specialized services in life’s transitions from marriage and divorce counseling to elderly care and those with cognitive impairment. With a compassionate understanding of the complexities involved in these life transitions, she provides support and guidance to individuals and families navigating the challenges of relationships, transitions and health challenges.

Rouxlene’s scope of practice extends across the lifespan, from adolescents to adults and the elderly. Believing in the importance of an integrative approach to mind, body, and soul, she tailors her counselling and psychotherapy sessions to the unique needs of each individual. Rouxlene places a strong emphasis on systemic connections and relationships, recognizing the impact they have on an individual’s well-being especially in preventing and slowing down Alzheimer’s and dementia.

She also offers training and workshops to empower health care workers and caregivers towards resilience, better service delivery and prevention of burnout.

With a firm belief in the power of holistic healing, Rouxlene is dedicated to guiding her clients through life’s transitions, fostering resilience, and promoting a sense of balance and well-being. Through her integrative approach, she strives to create a safe and supportive space for individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing and optimal well-being.

Services Offered

Counselling and Information Service

Counselling and support to family and friends of dementia patients are available, where information about the illness, legal aspects, planning for the future, and available resources are given.

Dementia Training Courses

Caregivers in a private capacity or with facilities are trained to give optimal and specialised care to dementia patients.

Community developers 

We are in the process of appointing community developers to create awareness and support in the communities around Cape Town.

Our community developers will provide information regarding signs and symptoms of dementia and much needed information on resources to assist families of people living with dementia.

Awareness programs

Dementia awareness is being created by means of talks at schools, churches, clinics, care facilities and any organization, requesting information.

We provide updated and informative flyers and posters.

On the the 21st of September of each year, we celebrate World Alzheimer’s day. Every year we give talks at schools, churches, facilities or on radio as part of the celebration and awareness campaign.
